Other work experience and hobbies

In my spare time, I have been tasked to repair other colleague’s computers with a variety of faults, using various tools at my disposal to diagnose and repair them. I own a large number of laptops, often buying incomplete or broken ones, then repairing them to working condition; finding parts, by description and part number, sourcing the maintenance manuals and part lists to guide myself with what is required. I maintain a website which I am slowly building up, learning about security and features, using and creating “scripts”, whist also programming at the same time. At home, I also help to run a network of computers with several computers, several printers, Wi-Fi access points and a desktop set up as a Remote Desktop machine that can be access from the internet. I’m deeply fascinated with networking at Remote Desktop level and I also own a number of thin clients to accomplish the task.

I have undertaken programming in my current job role to build tools to solve challenges with the role to help increase accuracy. I have deployed these to a range of devices, to ensure the programs work and are able to with a wider audience and seek feedback to help improve the programs design.

I also build models in a program called 3D Studio Max, along with Adobe's Photoshop which I have around 21 years’ experience in building various objects, mainly railway related rolling stock which I contribute to a commercially available program.
